Mathilde Thomas is the founder of one of our favorite beauty brands, Caudalie.  When I met Mathilde at the Caudalie Vinosource Event, I was struck by how down to earth she was while being so incredibly

chic.  She took us around her spa and showed us her products like a good girlfriend would show you her new apartment.

Her excitement about what she does and her desire to make the best product possible while giving back to the world was inspiring to me and I think New York just became a little more crushworthy with Mathilde and her family living here.  Not only does Mathilde create the best products and spa for us to enjoy them, she also shares her inspirations with us on her crushworthy blog, Notes from Mathilde.

Mathilde’s Crushworthy Secrets:

Crushworthy Makeup  and Hair Secrets:

The key – for me – is to keep it simple.  I have very little time during the day: between running after my three kids (ages 10, 8 and 4 years old), creating my skincare line, and taking care of my husband and finding time to take care of myself…sometimes there are just not quite enough hours in the day!

In order to keep it simple, you need a great canvas.  As a result, I focus on taking great care of my skin and use my own skincare products morning and night.  This would happen whether I put a focus on it or not, as I’m constantly trying new formulas for potential future products.  After that make-up is no more than five minutes max.  I apply my mineral tinted moisturizer for a healthy glow, plus my mineral bronzer for a sun-kissed effect. Then Nars baroque velvet gloss lip pencil, Nars orgasm blush, Lancome’s latest mascara, a spritz of my eau de beauté and I am all set.

The hair is more of a challenge because I swim, windsurf, snorkel, waterski and so it can become quite dry, particularly in the summer months.  One of my secret weapons is applying Ojon oil before shampooing.  Caudalie sulfate free shampoo and Ojon nourishing mask, followed by a little of my future soon-to-be-launched products (a divine oil, but shhh, it’s not out yet!) on the ends of my hair on wet hair. I let them dry naturally curly. My husband loves it.

Crushworthy Tips and Tricks:

If I’m in need of a little extra glow, which tends to happen for those who live in the cities as a result of the increased pollution, I apply a good amount of my Vinoperfect Serum underneath my moisturizer. It contains viniferine – derived from vine sap – that women in the vineyard used to put on their face to brighten lighten even and we’ve now patented it for my formulas.  When you’re on the go a full-proof radiance fix is simply a spritz of my eau de beaute!   I’ve notice that many women tend to shy away from essential oils, but this is an amazing way to keep skin nourished!  You can blend them with your exfoliator or cleanser or use them on their won. I follow by a professional peeling with viniferine and glycolic acid from my spas.

I never tire of visiting my family’s vineyard – Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte – in Bordeaux.  My original spa, Les Sources de Caudalie is there alongside my sister’s lovely hotel.  I love staying there and seeing my family.   My dream scenario includes getting pampered in that beautiful place in the middle of the vineyard wrapped in honey and wine yeast, being in a barrel bath, enjoying a crushed Cabernet scrub, or a pulp friction massage…with a delicious glass of wine in hand. [...] Mathilde Thomas was one of the entrepreneurs I looked up to as a business school student: she created her own skincare line with her husband, travels between Paris and New York and admirably balances both her professional and personal lives. Little did I know that I would one day meet her regularly at Caudalie events in New York City and attend a ceremony in her honor at the Consulate. [...]
